Nights of Self-Discovery

Picture
Originally titled "September Nights."  I felt that the title no longer applied.  Instead, I changed it, because the nights that I wrote this music truly were nights of attempting to discover myself again.

1.  The Carnival

2.  I Could Be Your Girl
3.  Right Here, Right Now
4.  Twisted
5.  Questions
6.  The Vow (No One)
7.  Decisions
8.  Come Home
9.  All I Can Give
10.  One Day

The Carnival   ©Kelli Cates

The Carnival was therapeutic to write.  And all I can say is I'm the only one this will ever make perfect sense to.
But I know that some people can pull some part of this song to apply to their own life.  It all started when a friend dared me to put "red balloon" in a song.  And I did.  Ka-chow.

Twisted   ©Kelli Cates

Twisted was written in my second year of college, but I felt it fit this album better.  I actually hid this song for a while out of shame, but realized that this song carries a powerful message...it's an anthem of those crying out for help.  I warn you now, the words are DARK.

Right Here, Right Now   ©Kelli Cates

First song I ever wrote for my husband.  :)  I was young, still relatively new to the songwriting world, and wanted to convey my fears that I had been so burned in love prior, but had a small glimmer of hope that he could...you know...save me.

One Day   ©Kelli Cates

Wrote this thinking about the future.  I'm a past-dweller, I constantly think of the "could have"s and "should have"s.  Not very healthy mindset, but this song helped me to focus on the future.
