Twisted
©Kelli Cates

Do you know the inner me?
If I showed you, what would you see?
Would you see a bleeding heart?
Would you even try to start
To reach my inner twisted mind?
Would you let me be unkind?
Your care cuts like a sharpened knife
Because you don't know how I live my life

I live to feel the pain inside
I live to see how long I cry
Pain hurts more than I can bear
Yet all the same, I need it there

If you saw my insanity
Would you still be there for me?
Would you play the psychiatrist
To a full on psycho masochist?
Why are you always there for me?
Would we spend eternity
Together, you consoling me?
Would these demons be set free?

I live to call my life unwell
I live in my own personal hell
I hurt to be so satisfied
And that's the twisted me inside

To whom I'm speaking, are you real?
Will I ever learn to feel
What it's like to have you near?
Where are you?
I want you here.

I don't want life's twisted charms
I'm sick of self-inflicting harm
All I want is to be set free
Could you please do that for me?

Do you know the inner me?
If I showed you, what would you see?
