Until We Hear No More
©Kelli Cates

It's cold, and damp outside
Spiders trying to find a place to hide
The golden sunset is no more
Stuck behind a stained glass door
The rhythm of the rain
Beats out over and over again
Until we hear no more...

The piano plays its tune
The darkness, it will happen soon
And then I'll meet again
The memories that warm again
In dreams, we play a part
That's only born inside our hearts
Until we play no more...

Stepping down, like stepping stones
The melodies, in playful tones
And the music soothes my mind
A solace...of a peaceful kind
I want to hear the world
Tucked into a fold of life, unfurled
Until it plays no more
And I'll hear it no more
Until we hear no more...

It's a gift to be used well
Used in heaven, not in hell
And I don't want to be
Where there are no playful melodies
I want to show the world
That I'm more than your average Hollywood girl
I am so much more

So, send me that broken rain
The rhythm of the darkening pain
Or the piano playing softly still
Bending ways, and breaking wills
I'll take your pain, and raise you joy
Until angels their sweet songs employ
Until we hear no more
Until we hear no more
Until we hear no more...
