Escape

Towards the setting sun, my mind
Falls to peace of blissful kind
Smooth red velvet drapes the sky
Tendrils of wind dance on by
The nightingale anthems joy and fun
Thinks not on tomorrow, or what's been done
The call returned is full and low,
The dark loon contrasts with sky's softened glow

Toward all this, I think of life
The dying days, and the following strife
And yet I see the thoughts now fade
The problems seen and choices made
The burning sun quiets to soft sleeping
And though the leaning willow's weeping
I cry not, for I have found joy
For in the night coming, God's angels employ
The birds to sing onward and soothe my mind
The troubles of my day seem to unwind

I care not of future, present or past
I pray only God's beauty may last
Until unto oblivion, and into dreams deep
My troubled mind suffers no secrets to keep
And all I can feel is serenity
And heaven on earth is all I can see
