Christmas carols have always been something I've LOVED to sing, and often find myself singing even when it's not November/December. So many of them, especially the ones about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, have such rich, deep meaning. So, I decided to record a few for you.
May we always remember our reason for the season....love, family, giving, and the greatest gift of all...God's Son!

Grown-up christmas ListI cried when I first heard this song. If only it were as easy as writing "Santa" a grown-up Christmas list.

Go tell it on the mountainI love this song. I love it I love it I love it I love it.
Had a lot of fun with the arranging, too. |
Pat a PanA french carol covered by Mannheim Steamroller on one of their Christmas albums, I grew up absolutely loving the simplicity of this carol. In fact, as I was figuring out how to accompany this carol, I tried to stay as close to Mannheim Steamroller's version. It's not as long, but it still has that slow, pulsing beat, and the wood blocks. :) I am singing the English translation.

O Come O Come EmmanuelI have ALWAYS loved this song, and really wanted to try for a pulsing, haunting feel as I arranged the music. I wanted to make it a prayer of the Israelites in the darkest of times...a lost nation and a lost world in need of a Saviour. I also was going for power (hence the choir at the last chorus). After all, Jesus came with a powerful message! Praise Him for His deliverance, His message, and His sacrifice!

Mary, Did You Know? The first time I heard "when you kissed your little baby, you kissed the face of God" I cried. To have been in her place would have been such an immense blessing.
|
The Adoration MedleyThe choir did this at Mid-Continent University, and I loved it so much I decided to steal it for my Christmas page. It features "What Child Is This" and then segues into "Silent Night."
|
The Christmas MedleyMy first medley I've ever thought up myself. Really, it's just two songs. So, technically it's not a medley. But enjoy it anyway. It features "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

Ave MariaI'm not Catholic, but I'm a Schubert fan, and by golly, this is a beautiful song. I always viewed it as a respectful salute, instead of a prayer. By the way, don't knock the piano. I was kinda just making it up. And as for the singing, well...I'm no professional.

Carol of the BellsDOES ANYONE KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO RECORD INTO A MIC THAT CATCHES EVERY FLAW IN YOUR VOICE, MAINTAIN AN UPBEAT TEMPO WITH NO CONDUCTOR TO FOLLOW AND CREATE A SOPRANO-FRIENDLY BASS LINE? Anywho, hope I didn't disappoint.
|
O Holy NightOne of the more powerful songs in the Christmas carol genre. Of course, when you're speaking of Jesus's birth, can you get more powerful?
|
Angels We Have Heard On HighLOOOVE this song. Usually you hear such a regal sound to this song, but I decided to make it upbeat. I mean, it's a song full of JOY! Plus, I added a little percussion in there...makes you wanna dance. ^_^
|
Silent NightAnother fave of mine...so peaceful. I chose the vibraphone for my main accompaniment because it's just incredibly relaxing.
|
I Saw Three ShipsCall it a love for all things Ireland, but this has always been a favorite of mine. Makes me wanna do a Christmas jig. :)
|
The Christmas SongI must confess, Christmas is not Christmas without The Christmas Song. I don't feel Christmas-y until I've heard and sang about chestnuts roasting.
