Anthem (Not That Sane)
©Kelli Cates

It's dangerous and lovely, this frame of mind
My smile sees through all the pain
It's not that I am pained, but I want to find
A way to bring the challenge back again

I am cryptic with my poetry, I know
But I'm thankful that He gave me words to say
Sometimes it tears me down when I'm sinking low
And cannot share the words in my own way

In love and hate, the words are there
And if you want more, then I will share

But I will sing my only known refrain
I'll speak in dryness and in rain
Because anyone with half a brain
Can clearly see...I'm not that sane

They can clearly see I'm not that sane

I'm twisted and I love the dark
It's just my personality
I know who I am, I've got that spark
Of fire just burning within me

In fear and fate, the words are there
I may get in trouble but I don't care

Because I will sing my only known refrain

And I will speak in dryness and in rain
Because these consequences aren't set in vain
I'll take my words through their last refrain
Because anyone can see...I'm not that sane.

I'm going to share because I can
I'm not a fan of politics
I'd rather speak what's on my mind
Instead of being branded a hypocrite

But I will sing my only known refrain
I'll speak in dryness and in rain
Because anyone with half a brain
Can clearly see...I'm not that sane

They can clearly see I'm not that sane
